by May Seah 04:45 AM Sep 25, 2012 SINGAPORE - If Channel U's latest variety show is anything to go by, there are so many fun things to do in Singapore that no less than seven hosts are needed to cover them all.
Dasmond Koh, Tracy Lee, Jeffrey Xu, Ben Yeo, Zhou Ying, Candyce Toh and Jayley Woo take you around all the places to eat, shop and play in Style: Check-In, which premieres tonight.
"It's for variety!" explained Dasmond. "We have some older ones, some very young ones; some married ones, some single ones; some with kids, some without; Singaporeans, Malaysians and Chinese. Also we check out a variety of places. So they match our personalities to the places."
Of all the hosts, Dasmond's experience certainly counts, which is why, as Tracy said, they call him "Chief". "I'm an actress and I'm quite unfamiliar with hosting," said Tracey. "So a lot of the time, Dasmond throws us lifelines. Sometimes we go off-topic and he pulls us back."
Jeffrey agreed, calling Dasmond "an exemplary big brother". "He takes me out to eat and shows me around Singapore," said the Shanghai-born 24-year-old, who added that his mum and dad in Shanghai have seen the show because of Channel U's collaboration with Shanghai's Channel Young. Clips from Singapore have already started airing within a show that introduces the best of Shanghai. At the same time, Style: Check-In will feature clips about Shanghai.
Enthused Jeffrey: "My family said, 'Wow, Singapore looks like so much fun!' That shows that we've achieved what we set out to do." MAY SEAH
